To try out some of the Citadel Contrast paints I decided to do a Giant from the Descent game.
I did this some time ago and I did not write down how I did it so, some details are more obscure than others in my memory.
The primer was a grey spray from the hardware store.
The trousers are Vallejo Caiman Green, the red top is Citadel Flesh Tearers Red, the skin is Vallejo Bronze Fleshtone, the Stone in the weapon is Vallejo Cold Grey, the stripes around it and some details on the model may be Vallejo Kaki, the pouch and dagger are Citadel Snakebite Leather (one coat) and the wooden part of the weapon the same but twice coated.
I visited my FLGS were I got some advice and some help with the further painting.
I applied a Citadel Green shade on the trousers, but the effect was almost invisible.
The weapon, upper red top and specially the hair were done with a dark wash (maybe black); in the case of the hair it was done directly on top of the grey primer.
The left arm and the right arm got different finishing washed, I am sure that I wanted to compare them but I cannot remember which ones I used ;)
For the nail detail I used probably Vallejo dead flesh.
And this is it.
Hobbies, movies, comics, (board)games, miniatures, cooking recipes and whatever cross my/our mind(s).

Winter wolf - painting
Painting journal
In preparation to paint a blue troll for the game Drako, Knights and Trolls I did this "winter wolf" with a miniature from the Descent boardgame.
Primer was the grey from the hardware store.
Base was Citadel Calgar Blue in the whole model.
In the hair behind the head and the end of the tail I applied Citadel Contrast Aethermatic Blue, therefore the greenish hue in those areas.
In the body and head I applied Green Stuff Intensity Ink Tenebrous Blue and for the mouth I used Green Stuff Intensity Ink Sacra Purple.
The outcome was missing contrast, so I tried some dry brush highlights with a mixture of Vallejo Grey Wolf with a bit of the Tenebrous Blue ink.
The base of the model was done with an undercoat of Vallejo Grey Wolf and partial wash with a very diluted blue wash (also from Vallejo).
The eyes got a small dot in Vallejo Grey Wolf.

Carrion Crawler - Painting project
Painting journal.
I have the box set of Dungeons and Dragons from Parker, which comes with some nice miniatures. They are not incredible but more than good enough for practicing my painting skills.
This is my journal of how I did this particular model:
The wizard is only for scale comparison.
1. I used my grey technical primer and an undercoat of Citadel Averland Sunset in the whole miniature.
I don't have any picture of this stage.
2. For the under belly of the beast I applied Green Stuff Intensity Ink "Viridis Green" and for the rest of the body, the "Gorgon Dark Green"
3. For the spikes on the sides and the under jaw I used Vallejo Dead Flesh as base, later a wash with Army Painter Red Tone Wash
4. The tentacles were done with a base of Citadel Calgar Blue and the Army Painter Red Tone wash for the purple tone.
5. For the mouth I used a bit of Green Stuff Intensity Ink Sacra Purple and a bit of Vallejo Dead Flesh.
6. The eyes were done with a small touch of Green Stuff Metallic Sirenscale Green.
Pictures of the miniature with the undercoat, the green inks, the side spikes, the jaws, the eyes and the blue tentacles.
After the Red Tone wash.
Final touches and ready :)
